TextEdit

Apple TextEdit is a text editor that comes with OS X with all the tools you need to create text documents. You can process text, create tables, format and create page layouts, add media files (audio and video), as well as write and edit HTML code.

Apple TextEdit can easily handle files saved by MS Word, OpenDocument, TXT and HTML. This program has a possibility to automatically save the document in order not to lose its content. Apple TextEdit also has a spell-checking option.
