XMZX File

Files with the extension .XMZX contain data of examination sheets handled by the SofTest ExamSoft program. These files allow the loading of an exam through the application, including its creation, grading, analysis, or processing. They are available on MS Windows, macOS, or iOS platforms. The software for individuals participating in the exam enables it to be conducted without access to files, networks, or other applications.

What do XMZX SofTest files contain?

A single .XMZX file corresponds to one exam session. Depending on the individual preferences of the examiner, this may be a single question or a set of questions. They can be:

• a single-choice test,
• a multiple-choice test,
• arranged by the examiner,
• downloaded from a professional test database provided by ExamSoft.

Software is widely used in many places to conduct various exams at different levels of education.

Upon completion of the exam, it is saved in .XMDX format. It can then be uploaded to the platform to enable remote grading.

Handling XMZX files in ExamSoft

Each .XMZX file contains a separate exam session to be carried out. At the start of the exam in the SofTest application, the previously downloaded .XMZX file is replaced by a file with the same name, but with the .XMWX extension. The Working Exam File contains the exam with answers that are provided and saved in real-time. Additionally, a backup copy is created. At the end of the exam, a Final Answer File with the extension .XMDX is generated, as well as the Final Working File.
