SB2 File

In files with the .SB2 extension, data packets containing serial numbers used by the SerialBox web application are stored. These packets can be used to unlock other companies' software protected by serial keys, however, such actions are generally against the law. The database of serial numbers stored within .SB2 files offers a variety of features including:

• data compression,
• additional metadata with file information, such as system identifiers,
• organizational data, for example, information about developers or program categories,
• encrypted file versions with certificates,
• links to software or information about it.

The .SB2 file format was first released in 2005 and is not backward compatible with its predecessor.

It contains information about the version of the serial number database, including its release date and a specially prepared welcome message. It may also include a wishlist and certificate information - the expiry date of the certificate.

Secure Encrypted Files with a Certificate

Thanks to the encryption of .SB2 files, users can be assured that they originate from the correct source. Reading these files requires the use of the appropriate certificate, which is only valid for a specified period. Information about the expiry date of the certificate is also recorded in the .SB2 files. Certificates also protect against opening files that have been subjected to unauthorized modification or have been damaged.
