What is Audacity?
Audacity is a sound editor which enables to record, cut, copy and merge sounds, and also functionalities such as live recording, conversion and editing WAV, MP3, AIFF, FLAC, MP2 and Ogg files. Program has many additional functions, like the ones offering possibility to mix tracks or to change speed and pitch of a record (with the envelops editor and frequency analysis window).
Audacity is equipped with a set of filters and bass regulator, noise reduction tool and equaliser. Program also allows to silence environment sounds.
