What is the FFWP file format?
.ffwp files contain forms generated by the Lucom FormsForWeb application. This app allows for automated form generation and multi-user access to .ffwp files, letting users working on different elements of an application or service share form data saved in .ffwp files.
Each file packages a complete form definition with standard input fields to be filled by the user, such as:
- text areas,
- checkboxes,
- drop-down lists,
- buttons.
Lucom's FormsForWeb software allows users to access .ffwp files online via a web browser. The FormsForWeb Filler application (version 3.7.3 as of 2024) allows downloading .ffwp files and editing them offline. In this workflow, the .ffwp packet is fetched from a FormsForWeb Server, completed locally, and then submitted back to the server.
Created forms can be incorporated into a project, embedded on a website, or opened directly in the web browser window. The format is primarily used in German-speaking government and enterprise contexts for electronic form management.
The .ffwp internal structure is a proprietary Lucom binary container and is not publicly documented; only FormsForWeb Filler can reliably open these files.
