What is the VRPACKAGE file format?
A .vrpackage file is a virtual reality scene created with SimLab Composer or SimLab VR Studio, the authoring tools from Simulation Lab Software. It bundles an entire interactive experience into one portable file rather than a single 3D model. Inside are the 3D geometry, materials and textures, environment and lighting settings, animations, scene states, and package details such as the title and description. It also stores the VR interactions authored through SimLab's Object Actions and Visual Scripting, and it can hold quiz content used in training scenes.
Under the hood the format is an ordinary ZIP archive, so every .vrpackage starts with the PK signature. You will most often meet these files in CAD visualization, product demos, and VR training courses.
Security & safety
RISK: LOWA .vrpackage is a ZIP archive of 3D assets and scene data with no executable code, so it is safe to open in the SimLab VR Viewer. As with any archive, only open packages from trusted sources, since a malicious file could bundle unexpected content; unpacking with a ZIP tool exposes nothing that runs on its own.
