Why convert VRPACKAGE to FBX?
People convert .vrpackage to .FBX when they need the underlying 3D models in a mainstream tool like Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Unreal or Unity, since almost nothing outside SimLab reads the proprietary VR container. FBX is the standard interchange format that carries meshes, materials, rigs and animation into those pipelines.
How to convert VRPACKAGE to FBX
SimLab Composer APP
Open the file with File > Open, then choose File > Export and pick FBX (*.fbx) to write the scene geometry out. Also runs on macOS.
SimLab CADVRter APP
Use SimLab's stand-alone CADVRter converter to load the SimLab content and export .fbx, useful if you only need file conversion without the full Composer.
Unzip then re-import FREE
Rename the file to .zip and extract it; if the package holds a packed .obj/.fbx/.dae payload you can import that into Blender and export .fbx.
About these formats

- VR-specific data (object actions, visual scripting, quizzes, viewer start position, annotations) has no FBX equivalent and is lost.
- Creating and reliably re-exporting VR packages needs SimLab Composer Ultimate; the free trial is time-limited.
- Material and lighting setups often need re-tuning after import because FBX and SimLab handle shaders differently.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a .vrpackage without SimLab?
.zip lets you extract the resource files, but reliably reconstructing the scene still needs SimLab Composer or the VR Viewer.
