KMV File

KMV files, also known as Mobile DJ Video, are video materials captured through Sansui mobile devices, using the Mobile DJ application. KMV files are stored in the widely recognized Matroska format, whose standard file extension is .MKV. They can support various video and audio codecs. By changing the KMV file extension to MKV, the files become compatible with most programs that support the Matroska format.

Capabilities of KMV Files

KMV video files share the same capabilities as the original Matroska format. They act as a container for video streams, audio streams, subtitles, supporting among others:

• multiple different codecs,
• menu support,
• chapter division,
• selection of subtitles, audio streams,
• attachment of other files, for example, graphics, fonts.

Files with the KMV extension are rarely encountered, with the most commonly used extension for the Matroska format being MKV.

Opening and Converting KMV Files

Playback of KMV files is possible on the device that recorded them. Support for the format is also provided by many video playback programs. However, the earlier mentioned change of the file extension might be necessary. A file opened in selected video editing programs can also be converted to another format, for example, the common .AVI, using the “save as” or “convert to” options. Online converters are also available, which do not require the installation of additional software.
