What is IBD file?

Files with .IBD extension store MySQL InnoDB database tables information regarding indexing and table structure. MySQL InnoDB Database Table files can hold shared tablespace for multiple tables and indexes where the name of IBD files is defined by the tablespace and with unique ID number. Tables can be created using one-to-one mapping (file-to-table) with the file name corresponding to the table name. This is the default method in InnoDB.
