What is ENC file?

Files in the ENC format are specific to the Encore program, designed for purpose of composing music. Content of such file is the result of actions of the Encore program, that is – music score of created song, its whole composition.

Within ENC files, also other data can be stored:

  • notes,
  • lyrics,
  • time markers,
  • pitch markers,
  • information on title of track,
  • information on composer.

Scores contained in ENC files can be also extracted and printed using the Encore program.

Other uses of ENC files

The ENC extension can also refer to „Encoded file” – which indicates an encoded file. Such files are secured against an unauthorised access. ENC files can be encoded in two ways:

  1. Using the standard binary-text encoding format – Uuenconded (in order to browse through content of such file, one should use a decompression tool and provide correct Unencryption key)
  2. Using custom encoding format – each program may use its algorithm and store encoded files with the ENC extension. In such case, in order to display content of a file, one should use the software which created it.

Conversion of a ENC file

When you install one of the applications from the list of programs that you found here, you should be able to open or edit the file with the ENC extension without any issue. However, if you still have problems with this, you may use the option of ENC file conversion to a different format.

We hope we helped you solve the problem with the ENC file. If you do not know where you can download the application from our list, click on the link (which is the name of the program) - you will find more information there on the location where to download the secure setup version of the required application.

What else may cause problems?

There can be more reasons which determine that you are not able to open the ENC file (apart from the lack of the proper application installed).

First - the ENC file may be incorrectly associated with the application installed to support it. In this case, you need to change this association by yourself. To do this, right-click on the ENC file that you want to edit, click "Open with" and then select the program from the list that you have installed. After this operation, the problems with opening the ENC file should be solved.

Second - the file you want to open can simply be damaged. Then, the best solution is to find a new version of given file, or download it again from the same source as before (maybe for some reason in the previous session the download of the ENC file has not been completed and it cannot be opened properly).
