DXL File

In files with the extension .DXL, data saved by Lotus Domino software - presently HCL Domino, previously IBM Domino, is stored. These can be various types of information stored in a text file with a universal structure based on XML - Domino XML Language, available from version 6 of the software. The standard allows for convenient export of data, their transfer, and exchange between systems. Thanks to it, it is possible to add structural elements to the database.

What can be found in a DXL file?

Files with the extension .DXL are based on a universal standard, allowing almost any data to be saved in a structured form. They also allow for their modification and editing. These can be:

• Data from the Domino Lotus/IBM database,
• Notes from Lotus/IBM Notes,
• Views,
• Forms,
• Schemas,
• Projects,
• Documents.

DXL files can be imported into the Lotus/IBM software, and also exported from it. Tools for exporting complete program databases are also available.

DXL Files - Opening and Use

A DXL file, as a text file, can be opened in any text editor, including XML editors. However, proper interpretation of the data contained therein is possible in the dedicated Domino Lotus software, as well as Domino Designer. The software is available for Windows, Linux, and MacOS systems.
