NFV File

File formats with the extension .NFV allow the Netflix application to store downloaded video movies by the user. These files enable offline video playback through the app. They are encrypted to prevent watching without the proper program outside of a subscription.

Downloading NFV files in Netflix

Devices with the Netflix application installed since 2016 allow for downloading selected materials and watching them offline, without Internet access. The .NFV file contains video data, accompanying it are also files with extensions:

• .MANIFEST - data about the file package,
• .NFS - a file with available subtitles for the program,
• .NFI - an info file about the program,
• .NFA - audio files.

All these files together allow for the proper playback of a movie, series, or other programs in the application regardless of the server connection. NFV files for download on Netflix can be searched from the Available for Download menu, or by selecting the download icon for selected movies or series. The quality of downloaded materials can be chosen to optimally manage the space available on them.

Managing NFV files on the device

Available NFV files on the device can be played and deleted from within the Netflix application. They are present in the My Downloads section. Netflix on Android or iOS also allows for downloading video materials to external storage, most often memory cards. This means that the possibilities for storing useful .NFV files are not limited to the device's built-in memory.
