What is the DV4 file format?
A .dv4 file contains a video saved in a proprietary container format used by Bosch Security Systems CCTV hardware, including Bosch Divar digital video recorders and systems managed by Bosch Video Management Software (BVMS). The format is a closed binary container; its internal byte layout is tied to Bosch's own export and playback tooling and carries no publicly published specification.
Video footage exported from Bosch CCTV devices may be encoded internally using compression such as H.264, but the output file is always wrapped in the .dv4 container. The format carries no standardized MIME type beyond the generic application/octet-stream.
.dv4 videos can only be played back using dedicated software supplied with the CCTV system, or replayed directly on the recording device.
