What is the SCV file format?
.scv files are proprietary vector design files created by ScanVec CASmate, a Windows sign-making application widely used in the sign industry during the 1990s and early 2000s. The format stores scalable vector paths, text elements, color fills, and cutter/plotter machine directives for driving vinyl cutters, engravers, and routers in sign production.
CASmate was developed by ScanVec, an Israeli sign software company. SA International (SAi) later acquired the Flexi/CASmate product line and continues to develop SAi Flexi (thinksai.com) as a subscription-based sign and print platform. SAi Flexi can open legacy .scv files, making it the only active supported path. CASmate itself is discontinued.
The .scv format is binary, Windows-native, and has no public specification or documented magic bytes. File sizes typically range from 5 KB to 5 MB.
