PZ File

Files ending with the extension .PZ contain a compressed image saved in the PNG format. Portable Network Graphics are raster graphics that allow for lossless image recording. The .PZ extension is not commonly used, as PNG files support various forms of compression based on filters and the deflate algorithm. PZ files are supported by XN View, XN Convert software from XNSoft.

Compression in PZ Files

Raster images in PNG files are normally subjected to specific compression. It uses defined filters applied to each line in the image. The data thus obtained are additionally packed using deflate algorithms. A single image file can be encoded in various ways. In files with the extension .PZ, there are PNG graphics that are additionally compressed externally. This allows for smaller sizes, still without loss of information and graphics quality.
