What is the PRDX file format?
A .prdx file is a presentation created with SoftMaker Presentations, the slideshow program in the SoftMaker Office and free FreeOffice suites from SoftMaker Software GmbH. It holds a complete, editable deck: an ordered set of slides with text, tables, images, drawn shapes, animations and other media, plus master layouts, formatting and transition settings.
Under the hood a .prdx is a ZIP archive that packages XML parts and media files, much like the packaging behind .pptx. The format arrived with SoftMaker Office 2016 and replaced the older binary .prd documents. Two close relatives share the same structure: .prsx, a self-running slide show, and .prvx, a reusable template.
Security & safety
RISK: LOWA .prdx is a data document, not an executable, so opening one does not run code by itself. The main caution is that presentations can embed macros or linked media; open files from unknown senders in an up-to-date SoftMaker or FreeOffice build. Because it is a plain ZIP container, a corrupted or truncated file may simply fail to open.
