What is the CAM file format?
The .cam extension identifies images produced by Casio QV-series digital cameras from the mid-1990s, including the landmark Casio QV-10 (1995) - one of the first consumer cameras to ship with a built-in LCD preview screen. These files are stored in a proprietary Casio QV container format that predates the mass adoption of JPEG in consumer devices.
> Note: the .cam extension is also used for Gerber Computer-Aided Manufacturing job files in PCB production workflows. Those are entirely unrelated formats that happen to share the same extension.

The only practical caution is identity confusion: a .cam file may actually be a Gerber CAM job, a CrazyTalk project, or a capture file rather than a Casio photo. If XnView opens it as a picture, it is the camera-image type; if not, it is one of the other .cam formats.
