What is the WPP file format?
A .wpp file is a WordPerfect color palette used by Corel WordPerfect Office to store named sets of RGB and CMYK color entries. The palette is shared across the entire suite - WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, and Corel Presentations - ensuring consistent brand colors appear in the document color picker and print output across all three applications.
The format is a small proprietary binary file with no publicly documented specification or magic bytes. Users create and manage palettes through WordPerfect's color settings dialog and save them under a chosen name. Multiple .wpp files can coexist, allowing different palettes for different clients or projects.
.wpp files are not image files and contain no embedded graphics, fonts, or document content - only the color table data used by the suite's color-management subsystem.
The format has remained functionally unchanged since the mid-1990s, when Corel acquired WordPerfect. The current WordPerfect Office 2021 (X9) continues to use it. Because it is entirely application-specific, .wpp files cannot be opened in any other office suite or color-management tool.
