PMDX File

Spreadsheet files with the extension .PMDX are saved by the PlanMaker program from the SoftMaker Office suite. They allow for data storage similarly to MS Excel or Open Office spreadsheets. This format has replaced the older PMD version. SoftMaker software is available for Linux, MacOS, Windows, and Android platforms. PlanMaker maintains compatibility with Excel and can also save files in the XLSX format. This format has been the default save format for the software since 2021.

What Can .PMDX Files Contain?

The PlanMaker Spreadsheet file format is proprietary. Thus, it is only supported by dedicated software, and opening it in another requires prior conversion. A PlanMaker Spreadsheet file can comprise:

• data contained in the grid’s cells - columns and rows,
• cell formatting,
• formulas,
• charts,
• multiple sheets in a single file.

Initially, .PMDX files were the default format for PlanMaker software. However, this changed in order to achieve better document portability. They are used to store various types of data, calculations, analyses.

Creation and Conversion of .PMDX Files

.PMDX files are saved as a result of work in the PlanMaker software. They store a spreadsheet that can be reopened, modified, and expanded upon. PlanMaker spreadsheet files can be created based on templates - templates. These templates were initially stored in files with the .PMV extension and later .PMVX, but PlanMaker also supports other formats. Furthermore, the program allows for the conversion of sheets from the native format to other commonly used formats.
