Wat is het FAP-bestandsformaat?
Een .fap-bestand is een Flipper Application Package, een applicatie gebouwd voor de Flipper Zero multi-tool gemaakt door Flipper Devices. Onder de motorkap is het een .elf objectbestand gecompileerd voor de ARM Cortex-M4-kern van de STM32WB55, met Flipper-specifieke metadata, een icoon en bronbestanden gebundeld in extra secties.
Omdat de microcontroller van de Flipper geen code rechtstreeks vanaf de SD-kaart kan uitvoeren, kopieert de App Loader van de firmware een .fap naar het RAM, controleert of de API-versie compatibel is, past relocaties toe en koppelt de firmwarefuncties die het aanroept voordat het wordt uitgevoerd. Elk pakket registreert de firmware API-versie waartegen het is gebouwd, zodat een app blijft werken op verschillende firmware-builds zolang de hoofdversie overeenkomt. Ontwikkelaars maken FAPs met de Flipper Build Tool (FBT of de lichtere ufbt), aangestuurd door een application.fam manifest dat de app als extern markeert.

RISICO: MEDIUMA .fap is native ARM code that runs on the Flipper Zero, so a malicious or buggy app could misbehave on the device, though it runs in the Flipper's constrained environment and cannot infect a desktop PC by sitting on it. The main caution is that FAPs can drive the Flipper's radios and GPIO in ways that may be illegal or harmful if misused. Install FAPs from the official catalog or trusted repositories, and be aware community apps are not reviewed as strictly as official ones.

A FAP begins with the standard ELF magic (0x7F 'E' 'L' 'F') because it is an ELF object file. It has no unique .fap signature; the Flipper-specific metadata (fap_version, api version, icon, name) is embedded in ELF sections, so the file is identified by its .fap extension and ELF contents rather than a distinct header.
