What is the GPS file format?
A .gps file is a skin (theme) package for GOM Player, a media player developed by GOM & Company (formerly GRETECH Corp.). Skin files contain the visual resources that control GOM Player's interface appearance - button graphics, layout definitions, color schemes, and other UI elements - and are applied through the player's built-in skin manager.
The .gps format is proprietary and undocumented; the internal structure has not been published by the developer. Files are likely archive-based given the variety of bundled resources, though this is unverified. Typical skin packages range from around 10 KB to several megabytes. Standard archive tools such as WinZip or ALZip may be able to inspect .gps contents, but the format is not designed for manual editing.
Note that .gps is also used by BPM Studio (DJ software by ALCATech) for playlist structure files - an entirely unrelated use. Context determines which format a given .gps file belongs to: if GOM Player is installed the file is likely a skin; if BPM Studio is present it may be a playlist.
Community-created GOM Player skins have historically been distributed through the developer's official skin portal and third-party fan sites.
Security & safety
RISK: LOWA skin file from GOM Player's official skin repository is safe. As with any downloadable file, avoid downloading .gps skin files from untrusted third-party sites - if the format is archive-based it could theoretically contain unwanted files.
