What is the DDP file format?
A .ddp file is a Delphi Diagram Portfolio file, a proprietary diagram format introduced in Borland Delphi 6 (2001) and also present in Delphi 7 (2002). The Diagram Portfolio feature let developers create visual maps of the dependencies and relationships between software components, units, and classes within a Delphi project - functioning as an interactive design-documentation tool inside the IDE.
Each .ddp file stores one or more diagram pages depicting component and unit relationships for the associated Delphi project. Diagrams were created and edited graphically within the Delphi IDE and saved alongside the standard project files.
The format was discontinued after Delphi 7. Starting with Delphi 2005, Borland replaced the Diagram Portfolio with UML-based Model Views in the Architect and Enterprise editions. Modern Embarcadero Delphi (now part of RAD Studio) does not create or read .ddp files, making them a legacy artifact of the Borland era.
The internal structure is undocumented and proprietary. Because the feature was dropped more than two decades ago and no third-party tools support the format, opening an old .ddp file today requires access to a working Delphi 6 or Delphi 7 installation.
