Hva er B6Z-filformatet?
En .b6z-fil er et komprimert arkiv opprettet av B6Zip, et komprimeringsverktøy for macOS. I likhet med andre arkiver samler den én eller flere filer og mapper i en enkelt beholder slik at de tar mindre plass og er enklere å dele. Som standard komprimerer formatet data med LZMA2, og det kan også bruke LZMA, Deflate, BZip2 eller PPMD. Arkiver kan låses med AES-256-kryptering og et passord.
Internt låner B6Z strukturen fra .zip. Hver lagret fil begynner med en lokal header hvis signatur er bytene 42 36 03 04 («B6»), og en indeks kalt «central directory» ligger i slutten av filen og starter med 42 36 01 02. B6Zip-verktøyet kunne også lese .zip, .tar og .rar-arkiver. Appen vedlikeholdes ikke lenger, noe som er grunnen til at løse .b6z-filer av og til dukker opp uten programvaren som laget dem.
Sikkerhet og trygghet
RISIKO: MEDIUMA .b6z file is a data archive, not a program, so it does not run on its own. The real risk is in what it contains: extracted executables or scripts can carry malware, so scan unpacked files before running them. Encrypted .b6z archives require the correct password to open. Because B6Zip is discontinued, prefer a well-maintained extractor like 7-Zip and verify the source of any archive you did not create.
