Vad är filformatet B6Z?
En .b6z-fil är ett komprimerat arkiv skapat av B6Zip, ett komprimeringsverktyg för macOS. Precis som andra arkiv samlar det en eller flera filer och mappar i en enda behållare så att de tar mindre plats och är lättare att dela. Som standard komprimerar formatet data med LZMA2, och det kan även använda LZMA, Deflate, BZip2 eller PPMD. Arkiv kan låsas med AES-256-kryptering och ett lösenord.
Internt lånar B6Z strukturen från .zip. Varje lagrad fil börjar med ett lokalt huvud vars signatur är byten 42 36 03 04 („B6”), och ett index kallat „central directory” finns i slutet av filen och börjar med 42 36 01 02. Verktyget B6Zip kunde även läsa arkiv i formaten .zip, .tar och .rar. Appen underhålls inte längre, vilket är anledningen till att lösa .b6z-filer ibland dyker upp utan programvaran som skapade dem.
Säkerhet & trygghet
RISK: MEDIUMA .b6z file is a data archive, not a program, so it does not run on its own. The real risk is in what it contains: extracted executables or scripts can carry malware, so scan unpacked files before running them. Encrypted .b6z archives require the correct password to open. Because B6Zip is discontinued, prefer a well-maintained extractor like 7-Zip and verify the source of any archive you did not create.
