What is the PAA file format?
A file with the .PAA extension is a file known as PAF Personal Ancestral File Data. It belongs to the Misc Files category. This format is associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The reliable way to open a .PAA file is with software that recognises this exact format, rather than guessing from the file name. If you are not sure what created a file, our file identifier can read its first bytes and name the real format, even when the file has been renamed.
We are still gathering the list of programs that open .PAA files. A fully verified, hand-written description of this format is being prepared; until then, the details on this page are drawn directly from our database.
