What is the MMP file format?
.mmp is a playlist/project file that references audio files for playback in MixMeister DJ mixing software. The file does not contain any audio tracks - it stores references (file paths) to audio on disk, along with BPM data, cue points, loop settings, and effects metadata.
Playlists can be used to group selected tracks by performer, but mostly to create playback sequences built from tracks from various sources.
MixMeister Studio playlists
Studio is not an audio player, so .mmp playlists are used to load multiple tracks to be edited simultaneously as a single project. This allows DJs to access all the tracks and mix them together in creative ways.
The .mmp binary format uses a RIFF-based structure (little-endian). MixMeister Technology LLC was acquired by inMusic Brands around 2007 and the product reached end-of-life around 2012, with no active development since.
Note: LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio) uses a completely separate .mmp format - an XML project file unrelated to the MixMeister binary format.
Security & safety
RISK: LOWPlaylist project file; contains only file path references and metadata. No executable code. LMMS MMP files are XML and can be inspected in a text editor.
