What is the LVF file format?
.lvf files store effect settings for Logitech Webcam Software, the legacy webcam utility that allowed users to add various visual effects during video chat sessions. Each .lvf file defines a face overlay effect and its settings - such as a virtual moustache, hat, or glasses. The visual effects are applied in real-time by the facial recognition function in the Logitech webcam software, and the tracking algorithm ensures that overlaid effects are rendered as naturally as possible, following head movement.
Besides .lvf files, Logitech Webcam Software also used .lva files, which defined fullscreen avatar effects - 3D mappings of facial features to virtual characters (an alien creature, for example) that followed eye and lip movements.
Logitech discontinued its Webcam Software and Video Effects feature around 2015, making .lvf files obsolete. No current webcam application supports the format. The files have no practical use today and cannot be converted to a format compatible with modern alternatives.
