IMSCC File

Files with .IMSCC extension store exported Canvas courses in IMS Common Cartridge compliant format. IMSCC is a compressed ZIP archive. The format was developed by IMS GLC - Instructional Management Systems Global Learning Consortium, a company providing IT solutions for education. IMSCC files allow sharing resources between LMS - Learning Management Systems platforms.

IMSCC files store exported projects and their settings. Not all software tools that support IMSCC files are capable of accessing all course settings. Data saved in IMSCC files do not include user progress information or their marks. The tool, however, offers an option to export grades to a separate CSV file. Usage of .IMSCC files

IMSCC files can be used to shared data between various software platforms - importing or exporting courses or trainings saved in this format. Not all packages are compatible across all systems, therefore some tools are supplied with IMS CC validators capable of verifying IMSCC packages for errors and repairing them if needed. IMSCC data can be accessed using archivers that support ZIP files. In order to load an IMSCC course it must be first imported by the platform or application.
