What is the CP2 file format?
A file with the .CP2 extension is a file known as ChessBase Theme Classification. It belongs to the Game Files category. This format is associated with ChessBase GmbH.
The reliable way to open a .CP2 file is with software that recognises this exact format, rather than guessing from the file name. If you are not sure what created a file, our file identifier can read its first bytes and name the real format, even when the file has been renamed.
We are still gathering the list of programs that open .CP2 files. A fully verified, hand-written description of this format is being prepared; until then, the details on this page are drawn directly from our database.
