Why convert EASM to STL?
STL is the standard input format for 3D printing slicers. Someone who received an EASM of a part or assembly and wants to print it can use this route to avoid requesting a separate file from the designer. The output is a mesh suitable for slicers, not an editable solid.
How to convert EASM to STL
eDrawings Viewer FREE
Open the .easm file, go to File > Save As, and select STL from the format list; if STL does not appear or is grayed out, the publisher did not include exportable geometry.
SolidWorks APP
Open the .easm in SolidWorks and use File > Save As > STL; SolidWorks may offer additional tessellation-quality controls, but the same publisher-permission constraint applies.

About these formats
An EASM file is an eDrawings Assembly - a lightweight, shareable snapshot of a multi-part 3D CAD assembly published from SolidWorks (Dassault Systemes). It is a viewing and review format,…
Open .EASM details →An STL file is a 3D model that describes a shape as a mesh of triangles. To view it, use Microsoft 3D Viewer (Windows) or Quick Look (macOS). To 3D-print it, open it in a slicer like…

- Export availability depends on a setting the original author chose when publishing the EASM - no third-party tool or workaround can recover geometry that was not embedded.
- EASM holds tessellated mesh geometry, not B-rep solids, so STL quality (triangle density, surface smoothness) was fixed when the EASM was published and cannot be improved on the receiving end.
- STL is also mesh-only and not editable; if you need to resize a part or modify geometry, you need STEP or the original SLDASM, neither of which can be extracted from an EASM.
