How to convert DAE to GLTF
- Add your .DAE file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .GLTF in a few seconds.
- Download your new .GLTF file.
What to expect
- Textures are not embedded in
.dae- make sure texture image files are in the same folder before converting, or they will be missing from the output. - COLLADA uses Phong/Lambert shading; glTF uses PBR materials. Most geometry converts cleanly, but unusual shaders may look slightly different.
- Prefer
.glb(binary glTF) for deployment - it packs geometry and textures into one file and loads faster than the separate-file.gltfformat.
Frequently asked questions
Will animation survive the conversion?
Yes - Blender imports COLLADA keyframe animation and skeletal rigs, and the glTF exporter includes them by default. Check the export options panel to confirm animations are enabled.
What is the difference between .gltf and .glb?
Both are glTF 2.0:
.glb is a single binary file with everything packed in, while .gltf is a JSON file that references external .bin and texture files. For web deployment, .glb is simpler to use.Why does my converted model look grey?
The texture image files were not found during conversion. Make sure the
.dae and its texture images are in the same folder, then convert again. Can I convert a DAE that came from a KMZ file?
Yes - a
.kmz is a ZIP archive; rename it to .zip and extract it to get the .dae and its textures, then convert normally.
