What is the RAE file format?
A file with the .RAE extension is a file known as TrueZIP Encrypted ZIP Archive. It belongs to the Encoded Files category. This format is associated with Schlichtherle IT Services.
The reliable way to open a .RAE file is with software that recognises this exact format, rather than guessing from the file name. If you are not sure what created a file, our file identifier can read its first bytes and name the real format, even when the file has been renamed.
We are still gathering the list of programs that open .RAE files. A fully verified, hand-written description of this format is being prepared; until then, the details on this page are drawn directly from our database.
