How to open file with CXT extension?

Step 1. Download and install Adobe Director

Step 2. Update Adobe Director to the latest version

The reason that Adobe Director cannot handle files with CXT may be that the software is outdated. The latest version of Adobe Director should support all file formats that where compatible with older versions of the software.

Step 3. Assign Adobe Director to CXT files

After installing Adobe Director (the most recent version) make sure that it is set as the default application to open CXT files. The process of associating file formats with default application may differ in details depending on platform, but the basic procedure is very similar.

• Click Choose another app and then select More apps option
• Finally select Look for another app on this PC, point to the folder where Adobe Director is installed, check the Always use this app to open CXT files box and conform your selection by clicking OK button

• From the drop-down menu, accessed by clicking the file with CXT extension, select Information
• Find the Open with option – click the title if its hidden
• From the list choose the appropriate program and confirm by clicking Change for all....
• A message window should appear informing that This change will be applied to all files with CXT extension. By clicking Continue you confirm your selection.

Step 4. Check the CXT for errors

You closely followed the steps listed in points 1-3, but the problem is still present? You should check whether the file is a proper CXT file. Problems with opening the file may arise due to various reasons.

1. Check the CXT file for viruses or malware

Should it happed that the CXT is infected with a virus, this may be that cause that prevents you from accessing it. It is advised to scan the system for viruses and malware as soon as possible or use an online antivirus scanner. If the CXT file is indeed infected follow the instructions below.
