Perl

Perl is a high-level, general-purpose programming language created by Larry Wall in 1987 and maintained by the community at Perl.org. It is widely used for text processing, system administration, CGI web scripting, and bioinformatics. The interpreter executes .pl script files and loads reusable .pm module files.
