What is PuTTY?
PuTTY is a free, open-source terminal emulator and network file transfer application developed by Simon Tatham, primarily for Windows. It supports SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and serial connections and is widely used to connect to remote Unix and Linux servers. PPK files are its proprietary format for storing private keys.
