What is BOINC?
BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) is an open-source middleware platform for volunteer distributed computing developed at the University of California, Berkeley. It allows scientific computing projects to distribute large-scale computations across thousands of volunteer computers worldwide. Projects such as SETI@home and Rosetta@home have used BOINC as their computing infrastructure.
