How to convert PS to PNG
- Add your .PS file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .PNG in a few seconds.
- Download your new .PNG file.
What to expect
- DPI controls sharpness: the default 72 DPI produces a pixelated result - use at least 150 DPI for screen display and 300 DPI for print.
- Multi-page PS files produce one PNG per page (
page1.png,page2.png, ...); there is no built-in option to merge them into a single image. - Conversion is one-way and lossy - PostScript vectors, curves, and selectable text are all rasterized and cannot be recovered from the PNG.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the converted PNG look blurry or pixelated?
The rendering DPI is too low. In Ghostscript, change
-r72 to -r150 for screen use or -r300 for print; other tools have a DPI or resolution setting at import. How many PNG files will I get from a multi-page PS document?
One PNG per page. If you need a single image containing all pages, you will need a separate image-stitching tool after conversion.
Can I convert just one page from a multi-page PS file?
Yes - in Ghostscript, add
-dFirstPage=N -dLastPage=N to export only page N, for example -dFirstPage=2 -dLastPage=2.Should I convert to PNG or to PDF instead?
Convert to PDF (via
ps2pdf) if you want to preserve selectable text and vectors and share a readable document; use PNG only when you specifically need a raster image.Programs that convert PS: Adobe Photoshop · ACDSee Photo Manager · Adobe Illustrator · Adobe Acrobat · CorelDraw Graphics Suite · Preview · Adobe Photoshop for Mac · Adobe Acrobat for Mac
