Vad är filformatet KWZ?
En .kwz-fil innehåller en flipnote, den animering i blädderboksstil som du skapar i Flipnote Studio 3D. Nintendo släppte appen för Nintendo 3DS i Japan den 24 juli 2013, och senare i Nordamerika och Europa. Varje fil lagrar en sekvens av handritade rutor, och varje ruta har tre ritlager tagna från en liten fast färgpalett. Eftersom 3DS-skärmen är stereoskopisk har varje lager också ett djupvärde, så att en flipnote kan spelas upp i 3D. Ljudet följer med som upp till fyra spår med en anpassad ADPCM-ljudcodec.
Internt är en .kwz en serie taggade sektioner: ett huvud (header), en miniatyrbild på 80x64, de komprimerade bildrutorna, en metadatatabell per ruta och ljudet. De sista 256 byten är en RSA-2048-signatur över hela filen, som konsolen kontrollerar innan den laddar en flipnote. Namnet kommer från *kawazu*, ett gammalt japanskt ord för groda. Formatet är efterföljaren till DSi-erans .ppm flipnote.
Säkerhet & trygghet
RISK: LOWA .kwz is a passive animation data file with no scripting or executable code, so opening one cannot run a program. Every genuine flipnote is RSA-signed, and an unmodified 3DS rejects files that fail the signature check. The main caveat is that files from unofficial sources may not validate on real hardware, but they pose no security risk to a computer.

There is no single fixed whole-file signature. A KWZ is a run of 8-byte-headed sections whose 4-character tags start with a capital K (KFH file header, KTN thumbnail, KMC frame data, KMI frame metadata, KSN sound). A normal flipnote opens with the KFH section, so the first three bytes are usually 'KFH', but folder-icon and comment variants of the format start with other sections.

Varje flipnote är signerad med en RSA-2048-signatur över hela filen. Om en fil har redigerats eller skapats utanför appen stämmer inte signaturen längre, och en omodifierad 3DS vägrar att ladda den.
Vad är skillnaden mellan KWZ och PPM?
PPM är det äldre flipnote-formatet från Flipnote Studio på DSi. KWZ är dess efterföljare på 3DS, som lägger till ett tredje ritlager, stereoskopiskt 3D-djup och fylligare ljud. Verktyg som läser det ena läser vanligtvis även det andra.
Är en KWZ-fil säker att öppna?
Ja. Det är ren animeringsdata utan exekverbar kod, så den kan inte köra något på din enhet. Att öppna den i en visare avkodar bara bildrutorna och ljudet.
