Why convert VSD to PPTX?
VSD stores diagram pages with shapes, connectors, and stencils, while PPTX holds slides built from text boxes and drawing primitives - no tool maps one structure cleanly to the other. The common scenario is needing a flowchart or org chart from an old Visio file in a presentation for an audience that does not have Visio installed.
How to convert VSD to PPTX
LibreOffice Draw OPEN-SOURCE
Open the VSD file in LibreOffice Draw, go to File > Export, choose PNG at 150-300 DPI or SVG for vector output, then insert the exported file into your presentation via Insert > Picture.
LibreOffice Impress OPEN-SOURCE
After exporting the VSD as an image via LibreOffice Draw, open LibreOffice Impress, insert via Insert > Image, and save the file as .pptx.
Microsoft PowerPoint APP
After exporting the VSD page as PNG or SVG, open PowerPoint and insert the image via Insert > Pictures, then resize as needed.

- No desktop or online tool performs a true VSD-to-PPTX conversion producing editable slides; the image-insert approach is the only practical method.
- SVG keeps vector quality at any zoom, but older PowerPoint versions (pre-2016) have limited SVG support; PNG is the safer choice for shared files.
- LibreOffice Draw's VSD rendering is partial on complex diagrams; custom stencils and connector styles may not match the Visio original.
