Frequently asked questions
What does converting a POTX to PPTX produce?
A POTX is the template (themes, masters, layouts) with no slides; the PPTX is a normal editable presentation. The output is a deck that inherits the template's design so you can add slides and content.
Why convert POTX to PPTX?
PPTX is the standard editable presentation format, whereas double-clicking a POTX only spawns a new file from it. Converting gives you a directly editable .pptx to work in.
Where will the PPTX open?
LibreOffice Impress, Google Slides, and PowerPoint for the web open PPTX for free, and any modern PowerPoint edits it natively.
Is the template's design preserved?
Both are OOXML packages, so themes, masters, and layouts carry over closely. Going through LibreOffice, fonts absent on the system and some proprietary effects may differ slightly.
