How to convert TIFF to PDF
- Add your .TIFF file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .PDF in a few seconds.
- Download your new .PDF file.
What to expect
- Multi-page TIFF files are fully supported by Preview, Images2PDF, and ImageMagick - each TIFF page becomes one PDF page. Avoid the print-to-PDF method for multi-page files as it may only capture the first page.
- The resulting PDF contains raster images, not selectable text. If you need searchable output, run OCR after converting using Adobe Acrobat or a free tool such as Tesseract.
- Output file size is similar to or larger than the source TIFF. To reduce it, lower the image resolution to 150-200 DPI before converting, or enable compression in your export settings.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting a multi-page TIFF keep all pages?
Yes, when using Preview, Images2PDF, or ImageMagick - each TIFF page maps to one PDF page. The Microsoft Print to PDF method is unreliable for multi-page files.
Will image quality change?
Quality is preserved by default in Preview and Images2PDF. ImageMagick may apply JPEG compression to color pages unless you add
-compress LZW or -compress None to the command. Can I make the converted PDF text-searchable?
Not with a plain TIFF-to-PDF conversion - the text remains as pixels. You need an OCR step: Adobe Acrobat handles this in one click, and Tesseract is a free command-line alternative.
Why is the output PDF so large?
TIFF stores high-resolution raster data and the PDF wraps that data without recompressing it by default. Reduce the DPI to 150-200 before converting to get a noticeably smaller file.
