Why convert SVG to DXF?
DXF is the standard interchange format for CAD software, laser cutters, and CNC routers. Designers create logos and illustrations in SVG, then export to .dxf to drive machines running AutoCAD, LightBurn, or SheetCAM. Inkscape provides a free, reliable path for this workflow on all major platforms.

- SVG fills, gradients, filters, drop shadows, masks, clip paths, and embedded raster images have no DXF equivalent and are discarded during export.
- SVG text elements are dropped unless converted to paths before exporting - use Path > Object to Path in Inkscape before saving.
- Coordinate scale can shift between SVG units and DXF units; set the unit explicitly in the export dialog to match your cutting machine.
