Why convert SAT to PDF?
A SAT (Standard ACIS Text) file can only be opened in software that understands the ACIS modeling kernel - recipients without CAD software cannot view it. Converting to .pdf is the standard way to share a part for review, approval, or documentation without requiring the recipient to have CAD software. A 2D engineering drawing PDF with projected views is sufficient for most such purposes.
How to convert SAT to PDF
AutoCAD APP
Use the ACISIN command to import the .sat, set up views in Paper Space, then plot to PDF using the DWG To PDF plotter.
CrossManager APP
Open the .sat in CrossManager and use its export dialog to produce a PDF of the model.
TransMagic APP
Import the .sat in TransMagic and use its export function to save a PDF of the 3D model.
Fusion 360 FREE
Import the .sat in Fusion 360, switch to the Drawing workspace, create a drawing sheet with projected views, and export as PDF.

About these formats
A SAT file is a 3D solid model in the ACIS "Standard ACIS Text" format, used to move exact solid geometry between CAD programs. To view one for free, use Open Cascade CAD Assistant…
Open .SAT details →A PDF (Portable Document Format) is a fixed-layout document that looks identical on every device - fonts, images, and layout are all embedded. Open it in any browser or the built-in viewer…
Open .PDF details →Quality & what to watch
- SAT geometry cannot be stored natively in PDF - the output is always either a flat 2D drawing or an interactive 3D PDF using a U3D or PRC stream.
- For most review and quoting purposes, a 2D engineering drawing PDF with front, side, and top views is sufficient and can be produced with free tools.
- Interactive 3D PDFs - where recipients can rotate the model inside Acrobat Reader - require paid tools such as Tetra4D Converter with Adobe Acrobat.
