Why convert ROFL to WMV?
A ROFL file (League of Legends Replay) begins with the 'RIOT' ASCII signature and stores unit positions, player inputs, and a JSON statistics block - no frames, no audio stream. WMV (Windows Media Video, introduced 1999) is an ASF-container format holding compressed video frames. Because ROFL contains no rendered content, there is nothing to encode into .wmv.
How to convert ROFL to WMV
OBS Studio FREE
Play the .rofl file in the League client and record the game window with OBS Studio; re-encode the recorded file to WMV using Handbrake or FFmpeg if WMV is specifically required.
NVIDIA ShadowPlay FREE
Use ShadowPlay (GeForce Experience) to record the replay window to MP4, then convert to WMV with Handbrake.
Windows Game Bar FREE
Press Win+G while the replay plays and click Record; the MP4 clip saved to Videos > Captures can then be re-encoded to WMV.

- ROFL replays are version-locked to the patch they were recorded on; after a League update, old files stop working and cannot be recorded.
- WMV is rarely required today - MP4 is smaller, plays on every modern device, and is accepted by every video platform.
- Any site or tool claiming direct ROFL-to-WMV conversion cannot work, as the format contains no video data.
