Why convert ROFL to MOV?
A ROFL file (League of Legends Replay) begins with the ASCII signature 'RIOT' and contains a JSON metadata block plus a proprietary game-event stream - no frames, no audio. MOV is Apple's QuickTime container (introduced 1991) holding encoded video frames and audio. Because ROFL contains no rendered content, there is no source material to encode into .mov.
How to convert ROFL to MOV
OBS Studio FREE
Play the .rofl file in the League of Legends client and record the game window with OBS Studio; the recording can be remuxed to MOV afterward if needed.

On macOS, use QuickTime Player's built-in screen recording while the replay plays in the League client to save output directly as MOV.

- ROFL replays are version-locked to the patch they were recorded on; after a League update, old files will not open.

- A 30-minute ROFL file is only a few megabytes; an equivalent MOV recording would be several gigabytes.
