Why convert ROFL to MKV?
A ROFL file (League of Legends Replay) is a proprietary binary stream of player inputs, unit positions, and game events. MKV (Matroska, introduced 2002) is an EBML-based multimedia container holding video frames, audio tracks, and subtitles. Because ROFL contains no rendered frames, there is nothing to repackage into .mkv.

- OBS Studio outputs MKV natively, making it the most direct path to an MKV recording of a replay.
- Any tool or site claiming a direct ROFL-to-MKV conversion does not work - no video data exists inside the file.
