Why convert INDD to PDF?
.pdf is the standard delivery format for print and digital distribution. An .indd is the designer's working file that recipients without InDesign cannot open; PDF preserves the layout exactly, works in every PDF viewer, and is what print shops require.
How to convert INDD to PDF
Adobe InDesign APP
Go to File > Export, choose Adobe PDF (Print) from the format dropdown, select a preset such as High Quality Print or Smallest File Size, and click Export.
Adobe InDesign for Mac APP
Go to File > Export, choose Adobe PDF (Print) or Adobe PDF (Interactive) for interactive documents, select a preset, and click Export.

- Linked images must be present at export time; if the INDD was not packaged, the PDF may contain low-resolution previews or missing images instead of full-resolution originals.
- Fonts must be available on the exporting machine; missing fonts are substituted and will cause text to reflow or render incorrectly.
- Photopea's INDD rendering is approximate; complex multi-page layouts should be exported from InDesign for reliable results.
