Why convert GIF to XLSX?
GIF is a palette-indexed raster format storing LZW-compressed pixel data. XLSX is a ZIP-based XML spreadsheet holding cells, formulas, and charts. A GIF has no rows, no columns, no numeric values - there is nothing to convert into spreadsheet data. Tools that claim this conversion produce an error, an empty spreadsheet, or a broken file.

- Excel's Insert > Picture lets you embed a GIF inside a spreadsheet as an image object, but that is not a conversion - the pixel data sits unchanged inside the XLSX container.
- If the GIF shows a table, Excel's 'Data from Picture' (Insert > Data > Data from Picture) can attempt to read values from the image into cells, but accuracy depends on image quality.
- Bulk conversion sites list this pairing to capture search traffic. The output of feeding a GIF into such a tool is not a real spreadsheet.
