Open the .dxf and use File > Export > Export as DXF/DWG - note that LibreCAD is 2D-only and will not preserve 3D solids.

- Converting to an older DWG version (e.g. R2004) can drop entity types such as 3D solids that the older format does not support; use the most recent version your recipient's software accepts.
- External references (XREFs) carry over as file paths only - referenced DWG or image files are not embedded and must be sent alongside the converted file.
- DWG is typically 2-5x smaller than an equivalent ASCII DXF, so the converted file will be noticeably more compact.
