How to convert DIVX to MP4
- Add your .DIVX file - drop it in the box above or click to browse.
- Convert it to .MP4 in a few seconds.
- Download your new .MP4 file.
What to expect
- An H.264 DivX stream can be remuxed to MP4 losslessly; MPEG-4 ASP video is re-encoded to H.264, a lossy step that takes processing time.
- Embedded DivX subtitles and chapters may not carry into MP4, which handles fewer subtitle types than the source container.
- The result plays on nearly all devices and browsers with no extra codecs.
Frequently asked questions
Will converting DivX to MP4 lower the quality?
If the DivX already holds H.264, the stream can often be remuxed into MP4 with no quality loss. MPEG-4 ASP video is re-encoded to H.264, which is lossy but looks very close at a sufficient bitrate.
Why convert DivX to MP4?
MP4 is the most widely supported video container, playing on virtually every phone, computer, browser and smart TV without extra software, whereas the DivX AVI-based container is not accepted everywhere.
Where will the MP4 play?
Practically everywhere: modern phones, computers, browsers and smart TVs open MP4 directly, and VLC covers anything that does not.
What is lost going from DivX to MP4?
MP4 supports fewer subtitle formats than the DivX AVI base, so embedded subtitles may be dropped or need converting, and chapters may not survive. Multiple audio tracks can generally be kept.
